PHOENIX -- An immigrant rights group is planning a pro-immigration rally on Labor Day at the state Capitol.Organizers said the rally won't be as big as the march that took place April 10. Less than 100,000 people are expected to attend. The rally is scheduled to last from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.Multiple speakers are expected to address the crowd and tents will be set up where people can register to vote in November's election.
Last week, the state's lead immigration enforcer, Robert Medina, was transferred out.For the past year, Governor Janet Napolitano has told the Department of Homeland Security in Washington that Medina refused to cooperate with state and local officials. She also accused Medina of hampering the state's efforts to combat violent smuggling networks.
