Immigration Protests Set To Roll

POSTED: 8:46 am MST August 3, 2006
UPDATED: 2:30 pm MST August 3, 2006

Protests will be held in front of the state Capitol this afternoon during a congressional hearing on immigration reform.

The state House will hold a special hearing during which local legislators will discuss what can be done to improve issues at the border and in the Valley.

Legislators will discuss the effects of state policies like Arizona's Proposition 200, which requires voters to provide proof of citizenship.

Some citizens worry that the hearings won't be enough to address the real problems behind immigration.

The Committee on House Administration will hold the hearing at 5 p.m. Tune in to CBS 5 and check back at KPHO.com for the latest updates.
