AVONDALE, Ariz. -- Three armed men burst into an Avondale home Wednesday morning and pistol-whipped the owner, while demanding cash and weapons and threatening to shoot anyone who got in their way, police said.Police said the men followed a housekeeper right up to the door."They told her they wanted to talk about a job," said Ron Roberts, the homeowner. "She said, 'Well you can't come in. I'll go get him.' They said, 'We're not fooling around.'"Roberts said the men pulled out a gun and stuck it in her back.
When the men confronted Roberts, they struck Roberts in the head with a gun, police said.Roberts said the thieves had everyone in the house lay on the floor and threatened to open fire if he didn't open the safe with money and guns inside.Roberts said they forced him into his own car to drive to another safe."We got in the truck and got down by the Chinese restaurant and they told me to get out, you're taking too long," Roberts said. "So I got out and came back."When he arrived at his house, he said he found a friend and the housekeeper unharmed and called police. The thieves got away with as many as 30 weapons and an undisclosed amount of money.Police said they found Roberts' car abandoned in west Phoenix. The three men are still at large and are considered armed and dangerous, police said.
