President Bush In Valley For Immigration Press Conference

PHOENIX -- President Bush will visit Yuma on Monday morning to hold a press conference regarding illegal immigration.He plans to inspect the construction of border fencing and push for the creation of a guest worker program.The trip to Yuma comes one year after he announced the deployment of 6,000 National Guard troops along the Mexican border.President Bush will stress four elements that he wants to see in an immigration bill: more border security, better enforcement of immigration laws in the interior, especially laws against hiring undocumented workers; a temporary worker program to address labor shortages; and resolving without amnesty the status of millions of illegal immigrants currently in Arizona.
The President's trip will be a short one. President Bush will arrive around 8 a.m. and will be leaving before noon.Full coverage on the President's visit will be on the CBS 5 noon newscast.Senator McCain will return to Phoenix from Iraq on Monday. He will also be holding a press conference in the Valley on Monday.His press conference is set for 1:15 p.m. and will be covered on the CBS 5 5 p.m. newscast.
